Not a lot happening boat related. Got the parallel rules for plotting course,. Been printing maps out on that booklet chart NOAA page. Same link has the coast pilot books and chart one for printing, It takes lot of ink to get them printe. My printer is a cheap one so I had to use high quality print. for fine details to show well.
What I have been doing to save ink is use fast draft mode on the text pages ( 1, 2, 3 and the end page of each chart) then I go back and do the map pages in the high quality print . The chars for the Mississippi River ( Inland Charts) are not that detailed so I have been using the fast draft on this and they come out just fine. BE AWARE there are islands that only show up in low water conditions on the rivers that DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT Show up on the inland waters charts. !!!!!!
The Atchafalaya River has two ways you can print it out one is the regular coastal charts (11354) and one is the inland charts. The regular booklet version of the charts I printed in high quality do to details like other coastal charts, the same rive in the inland charts is not so detailed so I used fast draft.
I am going to have to get a good sized magnifying glass but that's OK..I'm seriously considering getting a can of that water proofing spray to spray charts with . Not sure if it will hurt the ink or not but will try and see. The good news is I already have a lot of 3 ring notebooks hanging around to put all this in and those plastic sheet protectors.
So far I've got Mississippi River from the place I THINK I'll be starting out at. The Atchafalaya River, gulf from Mississippi Delta to Tampa done, PL 5 and Chart 1 so progress is made. Have a few I have missed no doubt but its getting done slow but sure. I do some, then go back and check to make sure it is all there and that I have not missed any.
Got a nice surprise that requires shifting gears and priorities temporarily to be able to get this done ASAP, so other then that it has been about getting things ready to go. Sorting out the stuff I don't need, the stuff I think I won't need and the stuff I know I'Il need and getting this place ready to sell.
I have decided to use The Toy as a dingy. It's already half done and is really easy to fit on board what with it being modular.
NOt alot else to say at this point,.
Sail safe
