Rudder part 2 and Porta-pottie

Disassembled the rudder. With the exception of the one piece on the wood inside the top piece it looks pretty good other then issues already mentioned.Except for two small bolts holding the loop on, which the heads shattered when I took them out,. all the hardware looks good except for needing cleaning.

Wood inside is rotten

I suspect these are made out of 316 or similar as they did not respond to a magnet at all.

Other then surface scratches  and serrated edges like a steak knife, it looks GOOD.

Has some of the green paint on this side, Not sure if it is under coat or rub off from other piece. Thinking it is rub from other piece.  Have to check and see if it swells in water.

Except for previously mentioned issues, outside looks good, Inside rotted. I'm thinking the thing to do is use this as pattern for new one.

Rub marks

Needs cleaning. I want to say barnacles.

Underside needs cleaning as well.

tiller is completely  delaminated.

Porta pottie

Fixed the porta pottie. Emailed company only to find out this particular model is obsolete. Since it is a 1985 model that did not come as  great surprise. The  flusher was dead. Probably from old age. The plastic was cracked and broken at the creases. Decided to try something just to see if any thing else was broken before I decided if I wanted to fix it or replace it.

Another use for a plastic shopping bag. Add a piece of string and wa-la porta pottie is working just fine.  Cost a couple of inches of  cord I already had on hand for monkey hammocks. That's what I call a cheap repair!
