Work in progress Washing Sails 2

Well the main sail is on the line. Its not perfect but it looks one heck of a lot better the it did.  Tried just soaking it in Oxyclean,.  So so job. Planning on redoing it with Woolite and Oxyclean later. The small 90 ft jib is on the line. That was almost clean in comparison to the others. It had some red./ orange spots that I think might be mud but now I'm not so sure. It s not responding to the Oxyclean  the same way red mud does and after 20 years of dealing with red mud I know how it acts.  Might be rust.  Other then that  some black areas but not to bad. PO must not have used it a lot.  Checked it a bit ago and it is looking whiter then it did so that is good.

The 130 ft jib is a complete mess.  Red mud or rust, black dirt and I noticed the luff has at least one frayed area. The leech has some small spots that need fixed.  The numbers came off as it was soaking, which is a good thing since I was wanting to take them off any way.  The material the numbers is made out of is apparently dry rotted. I could tear it with my finger nail fairly easy   This jib has seen action.  The good news is the repairs done are solid. Other then that just some stitching that needs to be done in a few areas and loose threads here and there  that need trimming.  Piece of cake

Main sail cover looks solid enough. Has a couple of holes in it that need a patch.  The way they are almost looks like someone put them there on purpose. Think I'll hold off on the patch and see what develops on this  when I put her together.  Needs washing. Tiler cover needs a good scrubbing and the opening for the eye needs whipping.
